Heavy Snowfall - What you need to know

London is expecting more heavy snowfall today. Environment Canada is predicting 30-60 centimetres of snow by Friday morning with wind gusts up to 70 km/h creating widespread blowing snow, which will reduce visibility to near zero at times.

Environment Canada is advising travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility and rapidly accumulating snow. London Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel.

Snow removal

The City of London is actively clearing roadways, bus stops and sidewalks and monitoring conditions closely. Updates will continue to be posted to london.ca/snow

Overnight on-street parking is banned until further notice and registration to park overnight is closed. Please move vehicles off streets to make sure snowplows can get through as the snow falls.

Emergency kits

Emergencies and disasters can happen at any time, and emergency kits are a great way to prepare for situations where utilities are out, roads are closed, and you can’t get the crucial supplies you need.

You should be prepared to take care of yourself and your family for up to three days in the event of an emergency or disaster.

Store the items in backpacks, duffel bags or luggage so you can easily take the kit with you in case you need to evacuate. Keep it in a cool, dry area of your home. Ensure that every household member knows where the emergency kit is located.
