Birch Hall (30' by 50')
  • Sit down function for 80-100 people.
  • Theatre style seating for 125 people.
  • Cocktail style functions for 125 people with limited seating.
Kitchen

There is no commercial kitchen on site. Our kitchen facilities are only available for light preparation and serving duties and are not equipped to cook food.  As such, all food must be prepared off site by a licensed caterer.  To discuss catering options, please contact Kelly Farmer at kfarmer@london.ca

Patio

Accessible brick patio space and outdoor seating option available.   

Note:  Gazebo not included as part of rental agreement. It is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

When can I view the building?

Can we bring in our own caterer?

Yes,  catering companies that have a business licence, insurance and the ability to prepare all food off site and transport it to the Civic Gardens Complex are permitted. Our kitchen facilities are only available for light preperation duties and are not equipped for cooking food. To discuss catering in more detail, please reach out to the Coordinator of Civic Gardens, Kelly Farmer at kfarmer@london.ca.

What comes with the building?
  • Podium, microphone, retractable screen and cordless microphone are available.
  • Accessible brick patio space and outdoor seating options available. The gazebo and outdoor grounds are public spaces, and therefore cannot be rented or reserved.  Any usage in this space is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • Tables, chairs, highchair included in hall rental.  Tables: 5ft. round (15) and/or 6ft. rectangular (20).  Chairs (125): white wedding chairs and business commercial chairs (tables and chairs are not to be removed from the building).
  • Internet service is available.
  • Table clothes, chair covers, cutlery, wine glasses are not provided. These items must be arranged with your caterer.
  • No overnight storage of any kind is permitted (no alcohol or decorations).
  • This building is a smoke free facility including the patio.  Smoking is permitted 30ft. (9 meters) from the building.
  • Staff will not supervise children.
  • No confetti/rose petals permitted.
What can I bring in the conservatory?
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the conservatory.
  • No plants are permitted in the conservatory.
  • Cruiser tables only are permitted (no food or drinks).
  • If it rains during your patio ceremony, you may use the conservatory for backup.
When can I set-up my decorations?
  • If your intention is to decorate the hall for your event, it is recommended that you book the full day; otherwise please refer to your contract agreement for approved hours.
  • As tape removes the paint and leaves marks on the walls, only 3M hooks are permitted for hanging decorations.
  • Candles - battery operated candles are preferred.  Fire Marshall regulation indicates that lit candles must be in a container one inch rounder than the candle and the container must be three inches above the flame.
  • All decorations must be taken down and removed at the end of your function.
  • No overnight storage of any kind is permitted (no alcohol or decorations).
Can we bring the chairs down to the gazebo?

Chairs and tables are not to be removed from the building.

The gazebo and outdoor grounds are public space and therefore cannot be rented or reserved.  Any usage in this space is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The City of London will not be held responsible for chair rentals - please make arrangements with your rental company for delivery and pick-up.

What can you tell me about the bar?

We suggest you contact the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) three weeks in advance of your function.  The Liquor License must be posted and your bartenders Smart Serve Trained.  We recommend you hire two bartenders to cover breaks.  No bar is to be left unattended at any time.

​The Civic Garden Complex is home to the Garden Club of London and the Friends of the London Civic Garden Complex.  Annual events taking place at this facility include a Spring Greenhouse Tour organized by the Friends of the London Civic Garden Complex as well as the Garden Club of London Flower Show and Christmas Boutique.
