Citizen's Academy Program

The Citizen's Academy Program is intended to build community awareness of emergency preparedness. The program trains residents in emergency management to encourage resilience, empower Londoners and protect the environment and property in our community. 

The Citizen's Academy Program provides adult residents an opportunity to learn first-hand about emergency management issues and programs in London. Residents will participate in classroom sessions facilitated by staff from Emergency Management and Security Services.

Attendees will be encouraged to assist the community with emergency management information in any way they can.

Each session will cover the following topics:

• Emergency Operations Centre exercise video
• Emergency preparedness presentation and video
• Emergency Management in London Presentation

Citizen’s Academy sessions

There are currently no upcoming Citizen’s Academy sessions scheduled. Future session dates will be posted on this webpage once available and promoted through the City of London’s social media channels.

These sessions will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Book an emergency preparedness workshop

We would be happy to help arrange an emergency preparedness workshop for your group!  This includes but is not limited to community groups, workplaces and school programs.

  • Knowing the risks in the community
  • Building home emergency plans
  • Creating emergency kits
  • Staying informed
• Severe weather hazards and preparedness

Emergency preparedness video series

The Emergency Management team wants to make sure you have all the information you need to be prepared for any type of emergency. Taylor Simmons, the team's Public Educator, has created a video series that cover a variety of topics to ensure that you are as prepared as possible.
