East Lions Community Centre

The East Lions Community Centre is located at 1731 Churchill Avenue.

  • Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Please note recreation customer service will be closed on  long weekends and holidays.

Amenities

The 42,000-square-foot community centre at East Lion’s Park features a six-lane, 25-meter indoor lap pool and smaller leisure pool; a gymnasium; multi-purpose activity spaces; a community kitchen, a lounge; universal change rooms; and art spaces.

Gymnasium
  • Double gymnasium dividable with a drop-down curtain
  • Hardwood floor
  • Sport specific details:
    • Badminton - full gym, three net set up
    • Pickleball - full gym, three net set up
    • Volleyball – full gym, two net set up
    • Basketball – two courts available; one on each half, and centre court option (full gym), six height adjustable basketball nets
    • Floor hockey - plastic sticks only (only kids programs allowed)
    • Soccer – indoor ball
  • Special events and other activities such as fitness programs, etc.
  • Viewing area in lobby on north side of gym
Aquatics
  • Six-lane, 25-meter lap pool
  • Smaller leisure pool
  • Accessible ramps in both pools
  • Universal change rooms with adjustable change tables and ceiling transfer lift
  • Accessible washrooms
  • Program offerings include recreational swims, lane swims, women-only swimming and aquafit classes, swim lessons and aquatic leadership programs

Multipurpose Room One
  • Suitable for recreation programs, leisure activities, meetings, private rentals, gatherings, passive activities that do not involve throwing, kicking, etc.
  • Can be divided in two with dividing wall (side A is on west side closest to reception/customer service counter, side B is on the east side adjacent to kitchen space)
  • Attached to kitchen space (on east side, side B)
  • Book at least half (side B) when booking kitchen for programs
  • One sink and countertop on west end (side A)
  • Projector and screen on west end of room (side A)
  • Roller shades for privacy
  • Maximum occupancy 85 (would fit 40 comfortably, or 20 per side at one time)
Multipurpose Room Two
  • Suitable for recreation programs, leisure activities, meetings, private rentals, gatherings, passive activities that do not involve throwing, kicking, etc.
  • Can be divided in two (side A is on west side closest to reception/customer service counter, side B is on the east side)
  • Shuffleboard lines painted on floor
  • Sinks and counter tops on both sides (A & B)
  • Projector and screen on west end of room (side A)

Community kitchen
  • Teaching kitchen with commercial appliances including one fridge, two stoves, two ovens, overhead electrical outlets for small appliances, six stainless steel counter tops and moveable height-adjustable workspaces
  • Suitable for recreation and teaching cooking programs, private rentals and community events
  • Dividing wall can be closed between multi-purpose room #1 and kitchen
  • Capacity to support 25 people
Activity studio
  • Suitable for recreation fitness programs (aerobics, yoga, strength etc.) and dance
  • Sprung hardwood floor, ballet bar and floor to ceiling mirrors
  • Maximum occupancy 53
North Art Room
  • Suitable for art-related programs and activities, and private rentals for meetings
  • Includes sinks and counter tops, SMART TV for program instruction demonstrations
  • Glass divider between north and south art room
  • Maximum occupancy 15 - 20
South Art Room
  • Exclusive access by Weavers and Spinners for their looms and spinning wheel
  • Instruction programs available by expert artisans, SMART TV to assist with learning demonstrations
  • Glass divider between north and south art room
Aquatics Meeting Room
  • Priority to aquatics leadership programs
  • Suitable for passive recreation programs, meetings and small private rentals (15 - 20 people)
