On June 23, 2026, London City Council endorsed London: The Centre of Opportunity – Economic Development Strategy (2026–2030) and its accompanying implementation plan.

The Strategy provides a shared roadmap to strengthen London's economy by supporting business growth, attracting investment, developing talent, fostering regional collaboration, improving transportation and access, and strengthening the way economic development services are coordinated across the city.

Implementation is now underway.

About the Strategy

London's Economic Development Strategy establishes a coordinated vision for strengthening London's economy over the next five years.

Developed through extensive research and engagement with businesses, economic development organizations, post-secondary institutions, Indigenous partners, community organizations, and residents, the Strategy identifies priorities and actions to guide economic development efforts across the city.

The Strategy includes:

  • Five Strategic Pillars
  • 12 Strategic Initiatives
  • 29 Implementation Actions
  • Performance measures and annual reporting
  • A framework for continuous improvement

Implementation is being led by the City of London in collaboration with businesses, institutions, Indigenous partners, economic development organizations, and community organizations.

Annual reporting will support accountability, measure progress, and help inform future implementation priorities as economic conditions evolve.
