The City of London is pleased to announce that voting is now open for the two People’s Choice categories of the 2021 Urban Design Awards.
The Urban Design Awards recognize and celebrate urban design projects in London and the efforts of developers, architects, landscape architects, planners, and designers.
Residents can vote for their favourite of 15 recent urban design projects in this year’s People’s Choice category. Some examples of this year’s nominated projects include new residential high-rises, rehabilitated heritage buildings, and improvements to public spaces.
In addition, residents can also vote for one of three student submissions this year in the People’s Choice – Student category. Post-secondary students were given the chance to submit their hypothetical projects to the awards.
“Urban design is an important part of any creative, engaging and attractive city,” says Britt O’Hagan, Manager, Community Planning, Urban Design and Heritage. “The awards showcase many innovative projects that represent visionary thinking and raise-the-bar for design here in London.”
The City has been recognizing design excellence with the biennial Urban Design Awards for the past 14 years.
Voting for both the People’s Choice and People’s Choice – Student categories is open until the end of the day on September 30. The winners will be announced at the Urban Design Awards which are being planned for late fall this year. More details about the Urban Design Awards will be announced soon.
Before voting, residents can take a virtual tour of this year’s nominated urban design projects, and also review this year’s student submissions.
