The City of London will be undertaking culvert replacements this summer and into the fall which will mean temporary road closures as the work gets underway. This work is being done primarily on Wellington Road South.
The culvert replacement program will take place at the following locations and dates:
What is a culvert?
A culvert is a structure that allows water to pass under or around infrastructure, such as a road or railroad. Culverts help prevent flooding, minimize erosion, and maintain roads in good condition longer.
Why is this happening now?
Repairs and replacement in the near term are required to ensure structural integrity, address safety hazards, protect infrastructure from damage due to stream water fluctuation and precipitation runoff, prevent upstream flooding, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Transportation impacts
Drivers are advised to expect traffic delays if traveling in this area. Please follow the detour signage. Drivers should give themselves some extra time when traveling, use navigation apps to plan routes, and leave a little earlier to get to where they need to go.
