Partial intersection closure at Western Road and Sarnia Road

The closure is needed on Western Road as major area upgrades continue

Western Road will be closed south of the Sarnia Road intersection to Althouse College for approximately two weeks as construction continues, to complete sewer, watermain, and utility connections. The closure is scheduled to begin on July 6, 2026, with reopening anticipated on July 20, 2026.

During this time, only left-turn movements from Sarnia Road onto Western Road, and right-turn movements from Western Road onto Sarnia Road will be maintained where possible. Detour routes will be clearly signed via Sarnia Road, Wonderland Road North, and Oxford Street West.

The overall project includes lane reductions on Western Road between Platt’s Lane and Burnlea Walk through late fall 2026. Philip Aziz Avenue remains closed and is expected to reopen in July 2027.

Motorists should expect delays when travelling in the area. Businesses will remain open during the closure.
