Intersection of Southdale Road West and Colonel Talbot Road reopens Thursday, October 5 as temporary one-lane roundabout

After a five-day closure to complete work on the Southdale and Colonel Talbot Roundabout project, the intersection of Southdale Road West and Colonel Talbot Road reopens tomorrow morning (Thursday, October 5) as a roundabout with one lane remaining closed until the project reaches substantial completion in mid-to-late November.

Once final work is complete, the intersection will be fully opened to traffic as a two-lane roundabout to help improve safety and comfort for all at this busy intersection.

What you need to know:

Driving

Regulatory and navigational signage has been installed, and temporary markings are in place to reflect the interim one-lane roundabout configuration and direct drivers through the roundabout to their destinations.

Colonel Talbot Road will remain closed to general traffic north of the intersection until the project reaches substantial completion later this fall.

Walking

Two designated pedestrian crossings equipped with overhead lights and signage will be available on the north and east sides of the roundabout for pedestrians to use during this interim period.

People walking will have access around the intersection, and be directed to the new crossings while the remaining two crossings are completed on the west and south sides of the roundabout.

Taking transit

Route 24, which was detoured during the temporary closure, will return to regular service along Colonel Talbot Road and Southdale Road West. For the most up to date bus arrival information, use realtime.londontransit.ca or follow LTC on Twitter @LTCLdnOnt.
