Starting Monday, July 6 (weather permitting), overnight paving will take place on Wellington Road between South Street and Watson Street as part of the Clark’s Bridge phase of the Wellington Gateway project.
Work will take place overnight for two nights, July 6 and July 7, with a third night on July 8 if required due to weather delays, between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
Overnight work helps reduce daytime traffic impacts and allows crews to complete paving safely and efficiently.
Traffic will remain partially open, but lane restrictions and access changes will vary each night depending on where paving is occurring, with directional closures shifting between northbound and southbound lanes.
Drivers should expect delays, follow posted signs and detours, and plan ahead.
Paving is an important milestone because it means major underground and structural work is complete and the Clark’s Bride phase is moving into final surface work. This is when the road begins to take its finished shape with details like lane markings, transit features, and landscaping.
Across the corridor, Wellington Gateway Phase 3 between Wilkins Street and Harlech Gate has now been paved. This is a clear sign the corridor is moving into its next stage, where final design features like red transit lanes, permanent markings will be added, and transit stations are being installed.
Phase 4 is now nearing completion, with most underground work complete and crews focused on final surface work.
Phase 2A is already underway in the northern corridor, and Phase 2B is expected to begin this summer as the final phase of construction, focusing on remaining underground work.
