The City and the Western Fair Association have partnered to redevelop part of the J-AAR Expo Centre into a new three-court gymnasium and multi-sport facility.
This first-class facility will give more room for court-based sports as well as tournaments and special events. The facility leverages existing J-AAR Expo Centre amenities like its stadium seating, accessible washrooms, parking and transit access, and concession facilities.
There is an increasing demand for gymnasium space in our growing city. This project is informed by London’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and is an important deliverable in the plan to improve gymnasium capacity and to develop efficient partnerships to use underutilized space.
A detailed design is being developed next, and construction is anticipated to begin this year.
This project also builds on an existing strong partnership between the City and Western Fair Association, which also successfully delivers recreational programming at the Western Fair 4-pad arena.
