PowerShift: London’s electrification expo showcases sustainable energy solutions

Test drive EVs, explore home energy tech, and see what electrification means for your family

The City of London and London Hydro are proud to present the upcoming PowerShift Expo on Thursday, September 18 (12:00 noon – 8:00 pm). The free event will highlight sustainable energy solutions and innovations shaping the future.

Hosted at Stronach Arena, PowerShift is a hands-on family friendly event that brings together local businesses, industry leaders, and community members to explore how Ontario’s energy transition is creating opportunities for more resilient communities.

“The PowerShift Expo gives Londoners a glimpse into the innovative technology being utilized right here in our city to meet clean energy commitments,” says Mayor Josh Morgan. “Switching to electrification, from heating systems to home appliances, is one of the keys to collective climate action—this is a great opportunity to learn more about how making the change can help reduce emissions and support a sustainable future under London’s Climate Emergency Action Plan.”

PowerShift showcases how London is a leader in electrification and how the city’s shift toward clean energy is already underway. The expo features demonstrations of home energy technologies such as solar and heat pumps, electric and battery-operated landscaping equipment, e-bike and electric vehicle test rides, and local businesses and organizations offering tools to help Londoners lower energy costs while cutting emissions. There will also be industry leaders in electrification who will be discussing how sustainable solutions are already supporting our communities and how they can be used in the future.

“Every time someone plugs in their car instead of filling up, or chooses to heat their home smarter, they’re making a shift that matters,” says Shawna Chambers, Director, Climate Change, Environment & Waste Management, City of London. “We’re thrilled to be joining London Hydro, and many businesses and industry leaders, in showcasing how we can help London households make this shift and how we’re moving towards a more sustainable city together.”
