Colonel Talbot Road project enters final paving stage

Starting Monday, June 1 at 7 p.m. (weather permitting), overnight paving will begin on Colonel Talbot Road between Southdale Road and Diane Crescent. Work will take place nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on June 1 and June 2.

During this work, Colonel Talbot Road will be fully closed overnight between Southdale Road and Diane Crescent. To improve safety for crews and reduce impacts to daytime traffic, paving operations will take place overnight while traffic volumes are lower.

Traffic impacts are expected, and drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, follow posted detour signage, and allow extra travel time.

Surface asphalt paving is one of the final stages of road construction and marks a major step forward for the Colonel Talbot Road upgrade project, which began in 2024. The work signals that major underground servicing, drainage, and infrastructure upgrades are now complete, and the corridor is beginning to take its final shape.

Following paving, crews will complete restoration work, landscaping, and final clean up activities, with limited impacts to traffic expected through the remainder of construction.

About the project

Colonel Talbot Road is being rebuilt from a rural road into a modern urban corridor connecting Talbot Village and Lambeth in one of London’s fastest-growing areas.

The project is transforming the corridor into a more connected and accessible part of the city, with infrastructure designed to support both current residents and future growth.

Improvements include new sidewalks, multi use pathways, boulevard bike paths, improved lighting, landscaping, upgraded underground infrastructure, and a new pedestrian crossing at Diane Crescent.
