The City of London is beginning clean-up efforts following the severe storm that struck London this evening, causing significant and widespread tree damage.
The extent of the damage was city-wide, with some neighbourhoods in the east end of the city experiencing more severe tree loss and debris than others. To date, approximately 50 service requests related to tree damage have been received; however, this number does not reflect the total number of trees impacted, which is considerably higher.
City crews continue to assess and address tree damage along roads and in public spaces, responding to urgent issues on a priority basis. Initial priorities include clearing blocked roads and addressing trees impacting homes, structures, or vehicles.
Timelines for full clean-up remain difficult to determine, as significant work is still underway and additional assessments are required in parks and natural areas, where tree damage is also substantial. Completing our restoration efforts, such as debris removal, stump grinding, and replanting, are expected to take several weeks to complete.
The City thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as crews continue to work diligently to restore affected areas and ensure community safety.
