Candidate nomination period closes August 21 for London’s 2026 municipal election

Anyone planning to run for Mayor, City Councillor or School Board Trustee in London’s 2026 municipal election must file their nomination no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026.

Nominations must be filed in person at the Elections Office, located on the first floor of City Hall, 300 Dufferin Avenue. Electronic submissions are not accepted.

Individuals filing a nomination must provide:

  • A completed Nomination Form
  • Signatures from 25 eligible voters supporting the nomination for Mayor and City Councillor candidates
  • A completed Declaration of Qualifications
  • Current identification
  • The required nomination fee of $200 for Mayor or $100 for City Councillor and School Board Trustee

Candidates are also required to swear an oath at the Elections Office.

No later than 2 p.m. on Friday, August 21, is also the deadline for registered candidates to withdraw their nomination. Withdrawals must be submitted in writing and filed in person.

The City Clerk will review and certify nominations following the deadline. The certified list of candidates will be posted at london.ca/elections.

London’s 2026 municipal election will take place on Monday, October 26, 2026, with voting available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Advance voting will also be available at polling stations across London on:

  • Thursday, October 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Monday, October 5 through Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day
