The official website for the City of London, Ontario
The City of London and Tourism London are launching official TikTok channels to share timely, creative, and engaging content with Londoners and visitors on one of Canada’s fastest-growing social platforms.
The City’s new account, @CityofLondonON, and Tourism London’s relaunched TikTok channel, @tourismlondon, will serve up behind-the-scenes moments, local experiences, City services, and all the things that make London, London. This joint launch marks a fresh way for both organizations to connect with new audiences and appear where people already scroll, watch, and discover.
“Launching on TikTok reflects the City’s commitment to innovation and to meeting Londoners where they are, by sharing trusted, local information on the platforms people increasingly use every day,” said Eliza Bennett, Director of Strategic Communications and Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression at the City of London. “It allows us to share what our City does in a way that’s easy to understand, visually engaging, and relatable. On our new account, you’ll learn about our crews and teams, what services we provide each day, and the important work happening behind the scenes to support Londoners.”
TikTok will complement the City’s existing social media presence, providing an accessible and engaging way to share educational and behind-the-scenes content about City programs, services, and community life. The platform supports the City’s communications goals by strengthening engagement, particularly with younger audiences, and delivering clear, local information in formats that better reflect how people consume content today.
Tourism London will also use TikTok to spotlight London’s events, food scene, culture, attractions, and hidden gems, encouraging both visitors and locals to explore the city in new ways.
“TikTok is quickly becoming a powerful platform for destination marketing. Short-form video brings a place to life, helping audiences imagine themselves exploring London’s food scene, festivals, concerts and live sports,” said Sean Murray, Tourism London’s Director of Culture & Entertainment Tourism. “With strong momentum already on platforms like Instagram, expanding to TikTok is a natural next step for Tourism London and an opportunity to connect with visitors and locals who are already sharing their experiences of the city.”
All City TikTok content will adhere to privacy requirements and accessibility standards, using approved technology to ensure data security. Tourism London’s channel will follow its own established content and governance practices.
The launch follows a recent federal court decision overturning a government order to close TikTok’s Canadian operations, allowing the platform to continue operating in Canada.
While both organizations will continue to use established platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, TikTok will be used in new and creative ways that may differ from other channels.
Whether it’s City services, community stories, or what’s trending around town, this is London showing up in a whole new way.
