The City of London is excited to announce the launch of "Movies on the Block” an outdoor movie night series hosted on Dundas Place featuring classic films from the 1990s.
“With three vintage retailers on the block, we wanted to build on the popularity of 90s fashion, so we’ve selected a series of blockbusters from that era,” says Ryan Craven, Manager of Core Area Programs. “Dundas Street was previously home to London’s premier movie theatres, including the Capitol, Lowes and London Mews. Through this film series, we are harkening back to the days when Dundas Street was the place to watch movies in London.”
These free movie nights will take place every Wednesday throughout August on Dundas Street between Clarence Street and Richmond Street. Each movie will start at dusk - approximately 8:20 p.m. The full line-up includes:
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) on Wednesday, August 2
- Batman Returns (1992) on Wednesday, August 9
- Clueless (1995) on Wednesday, August 16
- Space Jam (1996) on Wednesday, August 23
- The Matrix (1999) on Wednesday, August 30
Limited seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Londoners are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets to complement this great film experience.
These events are hosted in partnership with Film London. These events will be cancelled in the case of inclement weather. Cancellations will be posted to Dundas Place’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
