Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan 2026 

On March 31, 2026, City Council approved London’s updated Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. 

The updated Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan ensures London is better prepared for ever-changing community needs. It provides a framework that supports a collective approach for community agencies working together to achieve sustainable communities where everyone feels safe, has a sense of belonging and can meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression. 

Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2024 

26 agencies and more than 2,000 individuals shared their vision, insights, and ideas for maintaining and improving community safety and well-being in London. While our community has made great advances in these areas, there is more that needs to be done and this work is ongoing.

In keeping with the requirements outlined in the province of Ontario’s Bill 175, Safer Ontario Act, on September 14, 2021, City Council adopted London’s first Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.

The CSWB Plan provides a framework that supports a collective approach for community agencies working together to achieve sustainable communities where everyone feels safe, has a sense of belonging and can meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income, and social and cultural expression. The plan ensures London is better prepared for ever-changing community needs.

Launched in 2024 and updated annually, the CSWB Data Dashboard highlights key metrics from three focus areas: Safe and Vibrant Neighbourhoods, Healthy and Resilient People, and a Thriving and Inclusive Economy.

Building Safer Communities Fund

London’s Building Safer Communities Fund supports the development of new, youth-focused prevention, intervention, and transformation projects aimed at reducing gun and gang violence in London. The objectives of London’s Building Safer Communities Fund are to:

• Create actionable steps to contribute to community safety and well-being.
• Effectively address risk factors that may result in a young person engaging in gun and gang violence.
• Enhance protective factors that may result in a young person refraining from or exiting involvement in gun and gang violence.
• Identify and support innovative, evidence-based practices and programs to prevent or address youth involvement in gun and gang violence.

The Building Safer Communities Fund Evaluation Report 2023 - 2026, highligts the reach and impact of funded projects and efforts. It outlines how these results can inform future youth-focused gun and gang violence prevention initiatives, community safety planning, and funding decisions.
