Service Area Lead: Manager, Rewards and Recognition

1. Policy Statement

1.1       This policy outlines the hosting of annual receptions recognizing employees with 25 years of continuous service and employees who retire from The Corporation of the City of London (“City”) and the London Police Service.

2. Definitions

25-Years of Continuous Service Reception a reception held for City of London and London Police Service staff who have, or will have, achieved 25 years of continuous service with the City of London or the London Police Services, in the calendar year in which the reception is held.

City the Corporation of the City of London.

Continuous Service means there has been no break in service.

Council means City Council.

Retired when an employee has chosen to leave their position, stops working and elects to receive their pension.

Retirement Dinner a dinner held to recognize City of London and London Police Service staff who have retired, or will retire, in the calendar year during which the dinner is held.

3. Applicability

3.1       This policy applies to all employees of the City and employees of the London Police Service who have achieved 25 years of continuous service and employees who have retired.

4. The Policy

25 Years of Continuous Service

4.1       For achieving 25 years of continuous service, the employee will have the opportunity to select a gift based on a catalogue of gifts established by the City up to a monetary value of $350.00

4.2       A Council reception will be held once per year for employees achieving 25 years of continuous service in the calendar year. Attendees may invite one guest to attend with them. 

Retirement

4.3       A Retirement Dinner will be hosted once per year by the City for employees who have or will be retiring in the current calendar year. Attendees may invite one guest to attend with them. The employee will receive a retirement gift up to the following monetary value:

• Less than 10 years of service   - $100.00
• 10 - 19 years of service              - $175.00
• 20 – 29 years of service             - $200.00
• 30 – 39 years of service             - $265.00
• 40 years of service and over     - $300.00 

4.4       If an employee elects to retire after the Retirement Dinner RSVP deadline, they will be invited to the dinner being held in the following year.

Budget

4.5       The 25 Years of Continuous Service reception, Retirement Dinner and associated gifts are subject to the annual budget approval process.
