Volunteering for the LMLIP

Volunteers are the backbone of the London and Middlesex Local Immigration Partnership (LMLIP). By joining our team, you’ll help create a more welcoming community where immigrants can thrive. Read on to find out how to volunteer for the LMLIP, and why it may help YOU.

Volunteer opportunities

Depending on how you’d like to support the LMLIP, you can decide which Sub-Council best suits you and your experience. 

Our five Sub-Councils focus on key areas affecting immigrant success:

Education Sub Council

Support inclusive learning environments for immigrant students.

Employment Sub Council

Help remove barriers and give immigrants the opportunity to use their skills and experience.

Health and Wellbeing Sub Council

Work on improving health services.

Inclusion and Civic Engagement Sub Council

Build bridges between communities.

Settlement Sub Council

Improve information and services for newcomers.

By committing yourself to volunteering just four hours of your time each month to meetings, preparations, and activities, you can make a huge impact on the lives of newcomers to London and the surrounding region. 

In addition to our five Sub-council’s the Central Council provides a guiding direction to the LMLIP’s work. The Central Council is made up of Sub-Council Chair’s, members-at-large with lived immigrant experience, and community partners.

What to expect as a volunteer
  • Regular meetings with fellow community members
  • Work on projects aligning with the LMLIP’s strategic goals
  • Two year term, with possibility of renewal
  • Opportunities to participate in community events
  • Training and orientation to support your role
Who can volunteer?

We welcome volunteers who:

  • Have interest or experience in immigration issues
  • Can commit to two years of participation
  • Are willing to contribute their skills and perspectives
How to apply

  2. Email info@lmlip.ca with your name, reason for applying, and which council you’re interested in applying to.
  3. LMLIP staff will be in touch to fill out a formal expression of interest and interview.
