City recreation and sport programs to resume in alignment with new Provincial restrictions

In alignment with new Provincial restrictions announced last week, the City of London is preparing to gradually resume in-person recreation and sport programs and reopen community centres, pools and arenas beginning January 31, 2022. All local health guidelines and Provincial regulations, including capacity limits, mask wearing and proof of vaccination will be in place to ensure the safety of participants and staff.

Public swimming and skating drop-in programs will resume on January 31, 2022, with registration for these programs opening today, January 26, 2022. Community and seniors’ centre drop-in programs will also resume on January 31, 2022, with registration for these programs opening on January 27, 2022.

Registration is available through Play Your Way online or by calling 519-661-5575. Visit the City’s programs, courses and registration webpage to learn more.

The City of London requires all recreation and sport users aged 12 and older to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain City recreation programs and facilities including community centres, arenas and indoor aquatics facilities. Proof of vaccination must be provided every time an individual enters or re-enters a facility.

In line with Provincial regulations, only the enhanced vaccine certificate with a QR code, including medical exemptions will be accepted to access these services.

The QR code can be accessed digitally or by printing a paper copy. To download your digital or print QR code, please visit covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof. Individuals can also visit their local library or can call the Provincial Vaccine Contact Centre at 1-833-943-3900 to have their vaccine certificate mailed to them. You can also visit a Service Ontario centre to receive a printed copy.

Please visit the Province of Ontario’s website for a list of frequently asked questions related to the enhanced vaccine certificate with QR code.
