Traffic changes on King Street at Colborne Street and Waterloo Street intersections, beginning Monday, October 17

Beginning Monday, October 17, the intersection of Colborne Street and King Street will be closed to all traffic for approximately five weeks, for crews to complete watermain work and rebuild the intersection as part of the East London Link Phase 1 project. The intersection of Waterloo Street and King Street will also reopen to northbound and southbound traffic on Monday.

Cyclists using the Colborne Street bike lane will need to dismount at the King Street and Colborne Street intersection and follow navigational signage to reconnect with the bike lane on the other side of the closure.

The block of King Street between Waterloo and Colborne Streets continues to allow temporary two-way traffic while the closure is in effect, to facilitate access to properties in this block. All businesses in the area remain open.

About the East London Link project

The East London Link is a multi-year project that will revitalize more than 6 km of road from Downtown to Fanshawe College. The project will add transportation and transit improvements above ground, while repairing and replacing aging sewers, watermains and other underground infrastructure. The East London Link has received funding commitments from the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario to support 10 transit and transit-supportive projects.

In spring of 2022, the City of London began constructing Phase 1 of the East London Link on King Street between Wellington Street and Lyle Street. Remaining phases of the East London Link will be built between 2023 and 2025. The Phase 2 construction project limits for 2023 construction will begin at King and Lyle Streets, and continue to Ontario, up Ontario to Dundas Street, and from Dundas Street and Ontario Street to Dundas and Egerton Streets.
