Canada Day 2024: Your Guide to Canada Day in London

London is the place to be this Canada Day! A jam-packed weekend full of fun and free events is in store for families and people of all ages to enjoy. 

Here are just some of the events happening across London this Canada Day weekend. 

Kick off the Canada Day festivities at Night Market London 

Head down to Dundas Place on Sunday, June 30 from 7-11 p.m. to kick off the Canada Day festivities. Night Market London, hosted by the London Hertiage Council, is a family-friendly, interactive nighttime street festival celebrating the vibrant mosaic of our community. Night Market London will include entertainment from local artists, exciting street performances, local food and drink vendors, artisans, and small businesses. 

Honour the people who have come before us at Canada Day London celebration

Canada Day Londonhosted by the London Heritage Council, celebrates the people who have come before us, honoring their legacies and impacts to the society we now enjoy, and everyone who continues to uphold the rich heritage of our beautiful Forest City. Join the celebration on Monday, July 1 from 12 – 11 p.m. on Dundas Place and experience amazing performances, unique vendors and artisans and electric live entertainment. 

Celebrate Canada Day at Harris Park

The City of London and Centro by Old Oak will be presenting music and fireworks at Harris Park on Monday, July 1, in celebration of Canada Day.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Entertainment Zone will have live entertainment beginning at 7:00 p.m., with London’s RBCxMusic First Up featured artist Saveria headlining the evening. There will also be several food trucks in Harris Park during the evening, leading up to a spectacular fireworks display at 10 p.m.

Getting to and from Harris Park and Dundas Place this weekend:

Londoners are encouraged to walk, bike or bus to Harris Park and the downtown core this Canada Day weekend. 

The following road closures will be in place on Sunday, June 30 and Monday, July 1 to allow for Canada Day festivities happening at Dundas Place, Talbot Street and at the Covent Garden Market: 

  • Dundas Street between Ridout Street and Richmond Street (closure will extend to Wellington Street on Monday)
  • Talbot Street between King Street and Carling Street

The following road closures will be in place from 8 to 11 p.m. on Monday, July 1st to accommodate the fireworks display at Harris Park: 

  • Queens Avenue from Ridout Street North to Riverside Drive and Wharncliffe Road North
  • Ridout Street North from Fullarton Street to King Street 
  • Thames Street from Dundas Street to Harris Park Gate

Queens Bridge and Kensington Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 8 p.m. Pedestrians will be permitted to walk through Queens Bridge until 9 p.m. The West London Dykes will also be closed near Labatt Park.

Cyclists and pedestrians can use the Harris Park entrance at the corner of Dufferin Avenue and Ridout Street North, Dundas Place, Dundas-TVP and Dundas Street Bikeway to reach Harris Park. 

The Ivey Park splash pad and Municipal Parking Lot 11 will be closed at 6 p.m. to accommodate for the display. Ivey Park and the public walkway in front of the HMCS Prevost on Becher Street also be closed at 7 p.m.

Those driving downtown for the fireworks are encouraged to park at one of the City’s municipal parking lots nearby Harris Park, including Municipal Lots 12, 21, 6 and 20. Downtown parking locations and parking lot prices can be found on the City’s website. On-street parking meters will be available free of charge on Monday, July 1.

The City of London is offering free Canada Day recreation activities across the city on Monday, July 1! Make a splash during one of the many recreational swimming opportunities or challenge family members and friends to a game of pickleball. There is also Zumba, open gym and Youth Stick and Puck. Fireworks by-law

This long weekend, fireworks are only permitted to be discharged in backyards on Monday, July 1, between sundown and 11 p.m. Fireworks set off on any other day without a display permit or permission from City Council are subject to enforcement and a possible fine. London Fire Department Inspectors and Municipal Compliance Officers will be active in our community enforcing the by-law

Those selling fireworks must obtain a business licence and are only permitted to sell fireworks on Canada Day and the five-day period before the holiday. Retailers with questions regarding licensing can email licensing@london.ca.

To report a noise concern related to fireworks after hours or on days when not permitted, please call 519-661-5670 and provide the exact address from where the fireworks are occurring.

City of London Office Closures

All City administrative offices will be closed on Monday, July 1, including City Hall, Citi Plaza, all Ontario Works offices, and the Provincial Offences Administrative Office. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, July 2 at 8:30 a.m.
