Work begins Monday, March 4 at Fanshawe Park Road between both ends of North Centre Road

Starting Monday, March 4, Phase 2 of construction for the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project will begin, requiring lane restrictions on both directions of Fanshawe Park Road between both ends of North Centre Road until approximately fall 2024.

During this time, some turning restrictions will be in place to support traffic flow through this busy corridor.

Drivers travelling eastbound and westbound on Fanshawe Park Road are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible, and to plan ahead by using navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps. Signs will be installed to help guide traffic through the area.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this work on at least one side of the road. People walking are advised to follow wayfinding signs to navigate the construction area safely.

People biking are encouraged to use alternative routes when possible and follow signs to reach their destination. Cyclists may be required to dismount and walk.

Some LTC stops along Fanshawe Park Road may be impacted during construction and transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates

All businesses remain open and access to Masonville Mall and other commercial and residential areas will be maintained at all times during construction.

About the project

The Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project will enhance safety and comfort for all road users and help accommodate existing and future traffic demand, while upgrading and replacing aging underground infrastructure. The project will also add active transportation improvements, including asphalt in-boulevard bike paths and new concrete sidewalks.

The project is being constructed in two phases to maintain traffic flow as the project progress and support access to businesses and properties within the construction limits. Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2023 along Richmond Street, with some cleanup and miscellaneous finishing work planned in spring/summer 2024, requiring temporary lane restrictions on both directions of Richmond Street. Further details will be provided ahead of this work. The second phase of construction will begin on Monday, March 4 on Fanshawe Park Road.
