Work begins Monday, June 5 at Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street

Starting Monday, June 5, construction for the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project will begin, requiring lane restrictions on both directions of Richmond Street between Jacksway Crescent and North Centre Road.

As construction progresses in the area, channelled lanes and restrictions will also be in place east and west on Fanshawe Park Road between the Richmond Street intersection and west of North Centre Road (west leg).

Restrictions are anticipated to be in place until approximately December 2023.

Drivers travelling northbound and southbound on Richmond Street are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible, and to plan ahead by using navigation apps such as Waze or Google Maps. Signs will be installed to help guide traffic through the area.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this work on at least one side of the road. People walking are advised to follow wayfinding signs to navigate the construction area safely.

People biking are encouraged to use alternative routes when possible and follow signs to reach their destination. Cyclists may be required to dismount and walk.

The LTC terminal at Masonville Mall will continue to be open and operational during construction. However, some LTC routes and stops may be impacted during construction. Transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates.

All businesses remain open and accessible during construction. Access to Masonville Mall and other commercial and residential areas will be maintained at all times throughout this work.

About the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements Project

Construction for the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project aims to enhance safety and comfort for all road users and help accommodate existing and future traffic demand, while upgrading and replacing aging underground infrastructure. The project will also add active transportation improvements, including asphalt in-boulevard bike paths and new concrete sidewalks.

The project will be constructed in stages to minimize inconveniences and maximize access through the area during construction. Construction is planned in 2023 for the first phase of the project and in 2024 for phase two.

This project is one of London’s top ten projects to be constructed this year across the city.
