Upcoming traffic changes downtown for construction of the Downtown Loop

Starting the week of October 3, work begins at the Queens Avenue and Talbot Street intersection, requiring a full closure of the intersection until approximately mid-December. This construction is part of the Downtown Loop project.

During this time, motorists travelling north and south on Talbot Street will be detoured to Richmond Street and York Street.

Drivers travelling from the west end are encouraged to use Wharncliffe Road, Riverside Drive and York Street to reach their downtown destinations.

Motorists leaving downtown heading west are encouraged to use Richmond Street and York Street or Horton Street.

Access to the Ontario Court of Justice (Courthouse) will be maintained through a temporary two-way traffic configuration accessible to local traffic at the Riverside and Ridout Street North intersection.

Pedestrians are encouraged to use nearby streets and follow wayfinding signs to navigate the construction zone safely.

Some LTC routes will be detoured during this closure and transit users are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and detours.

As a reminder, a temporary two-way traffic configuration is currently in place at King Street between Talbot Street and Ridout Street North to support access to Municipal Lot #8 (Budweiser Gardens) and other nearby businesses, while crews complete necessary work at the King and Ridout intersection. Londoners planning to park at Municipal Lot #8 for the London Knights game can enter and exit the parking lot using King Street.

Businesses remain open and accessible during construction and customers can take advantage of two-hour free parking at municipal lots and designated on-street parking locations using promo code ‘CORE’ in the Honk app.
