Road closure: Queens Avenue and Richmond Street intersection

Beginning Monday, July 4, the Queens Avenue and Richmond Street intersection will be fully closed to vehicle traffic for construction of the Downtown Loop project. This closure is anticipated to be in place for approximately six weeks.

During this time, motorists travelling westbound on Queens Avenue will be detoured to York Street via Wellington Street. Southbound traffic on Richmond Street will be detoured to Dufferin Avenue, Wellington Street and York Street to navigate around the closure. Signs will be installed to help drivers navigate the area.

A temporary two-way traffic configuration will be in place on Queens Avenue between Richmond Street and Clarence Street to allow access to nearby properties and City of London Municipal Parking Lot #5.

Drivers can take advantage of free two-hour parking at municipal lots and designated on-street parking locations by using the Honk app and entering promo code ‘CORE’.Park and pick-up locationsare also available downtown for quick food and parcel pickups.

Downtown visitors and residents are encouraged to plan ahead by using navigation tools such as Waze and Google Maps and by visiting the Renew London website, which has the most up-to-date information about construction.

Sidewalk access will be maintained and signs will be installed to help pedestrians navigate the construction zone.

Cyclists are encouraged to use Dundas Place, where cycling connections are available for east-west cycling through the core.

Transit users are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and detours. ­
