Road closure: Queens Avenue between Richmond Street and Talbot Street

Beginning Monday, June 13, Queens Avenue will be fully closed to vehicle traffic between Richmond Street and Talbot Street for construction of the Downtown Loop project. This closure is anticipated to be in place until approximately September 2022.

During this time, motorists travelling westbound on Queens Avenue will be detoured to York Street via Richmond Street and Talbot Street. Signs will be installed to help drivers navigate around the closure. Nearby parking lots can be accessed via Fullarton Street and Carling Street.

Many downtown routes remain open, however other road restrictions are in place for nearby construction of the Downtown Loop and East London Link projects. Downtown visitors and residents are encouraged to plan ahead by using navigation tools such as Waze and Google Maps and by visiting the Renew London website, which has the most up-to-date information about construction.

Drivers can take advantage of two-hour free parking at municipal lots and designated on-street parking locations by using the Honk app and entering promo code ‘CORE’. “Park and pick-up locations” are also available downtown for quick food and parcel pickups.

Sidewalk access will be maintained and signs will be installed to help pedestrians navigate the construction zone.

Cyclists are encouraged to use Dundas Place, where cycling connections are available for east-west cycling through the core.

Transit users are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and detours.
