Richmond Street now open between North Centre Road and Jacksway Crescent

Phase 1 of the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project on Richmond Street has reached substantial completion, and the road has reopened to traffic.

Over the next few weeks, crews will remain on site to complete miscellaneous work, which will require intermittent lane reductions.

The new road design features additional left-turn lanes along this section of Richmond Street, as well as a new centre-median to enhance safety and accommodate existing and future travel demand at this busy intersection.

As part of the project, active transportation improvements were added, including concrete sidewalks and in-boulevard asphalt bike paths. New streetscape elements, street lighting and traffic signals will also be installed.

 What to expect in 2024

Phase 2 of the project is anticipated to begin in the spring along Fanshawe Park Road between both east and west legs of North Centre Road.

The work in 2024 will add additional through lanes on Fanshawe Park Road, new concrete sidewalks, upgrades to underground infrastructure and enhancements to in-boulevard asphalt bike paths.

All businesses will remain open and accessible during construction. Access to Masonville Mall and other commercial and residential areas will be maintained as well as possible throughout construction.

It has been a busy construction season in London, and we want to thank Londoners for their patience while this important work was underway.
