The City of London will open nominations for the 2026 municipal election on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Anyone planning to run for mayor, city council or school board trustee can begin filing their nominations on that date.
Candidates running for mayor or city council must submit their nomination forms along with signatures from 25 eligible voters endorsing their candidacy, as well as the required filing fee. The fee to run for Mayor is $200, and $100 for all other positions.
Nominations will be accepted in person at the Elections Office, located on the first floor of City Hall, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Electronic filing is not available.
The deadline to file a nomination is no later than 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026.
People interested in running are encouraged to review all rules, requirements and key deadlines before filing.
Friday, May 1, is also the first day third-party advertisers can register with the City Clerk. A third-party advertiser is an individual, corporation, or trade union that pays for ads or other materials to support, promote or oppose a candidate, or a “yes” or “no” answer to a question on the ballot. Registration is required before any advertising can begin.
