Lane restrictions: Temporary bypass road in effect for Adelaide Street North between McMahen Street and Central Avenue, starting September 15

Starting tomorrow, September 15, all traffic on Adelaide Street North between McMahen Street and Central Avenue will be diverted to a temporary bypass road, as work progresses on the Adelaide Street North CP Railway Grade Separation (“Adelaide Underpass”). The bypass road will maintain traffic flow around the project area as Adelaide Street North undergoes deep excavation and next phases of underpass construction, and will be in effect for the remainder of the project.

The bypass road has two lanes (one northbound, one southbound) and a temporary sidewalk along its east side. To optimize traffic flow north and south of the bypass road, drivers are reminded to “zipper merge”, by filling both lanes and alternating safely where the road narrows and traffic lanes end.

Two LTC transit stops (one northbound, one southbound) on Adelaide Street North between McMahen Street and Central Avenue will be closed as part of these traffic changes. For all detours and the most accurate service information, please use realtime.londontransit.ca or follow LTC on Twitter @LTCLdnOnt.

All local businesses in the area remain open and accessible during the closure.
