Starting Tuesday, September 6, the City of London will begin construction of the Arterial Road Rehabilitation and Cycling Lane Upgrades project, which will require temporary lane restrictions on Fanshawe Park Road West from west of Hyde Park Road to east of Dalmagarry Road, until approximately October 15, 2022.
During this time, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction of Fanshawe Park Road West to provide access to nearby commercial and residential areas. Lane closure signs will be installed to alert road users of the restrictions.
While most of the work will take place Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., construction activities will be required at night to complete paving and other essential work in the area as efficiently as possible.
Drivers can expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible, and to plan ahead by using navigation tools such as Waze or Google Maps.
Eastbound and westbound bike lanes on Fanshawe Park Road West will be restricted during construction. Cyclists are encouraged to use nearby streets to reach their destinations in the area and follow detour signs to navigate safely around the construction zone.
Sidewalk access will be maintained on at least one side of the road at all times and pedestrians are encouraged to use nearby streets where possible to reach businesses and residences in the area.
Transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and learn about impacted routes and stops.
The Arterial Road Rehabilitation and Cycling Lane Upgrades project will complete road surface and cycle lane upgrades, repair sidewalks and concrete curbs, and improve the streetscape on Fanshawe Park Road West.
