July 1st fireworks

The City of London would like to remind residents planning backyard fireworks displays to follow all COVID-19 health precautions and general safety precautions, and to show neighbours some #LdnKindness by adhering to the Fireworks By-law.

This year, COVID-19 health precautions include limiting the size of gatherings and ensuring physical distancing with anyone who is from outside the same household.

The Fireworks By-law allows backyard fireworks only on permitted days between dusk and 11:00 p.m.  This year, these days are:

  • Thursday, July 1
  • Saturday, July 3

Only adults who are aware of the hazards and essential safety precautions should handle and discharge fireworks. It’s a good idea to monitor wind conditions because high winds can increase risks. Safety matters, whether your plans involve a large display or a few sparklers because even sparklers can reach extreme temperatures and cause burns if they’re handled incorrectly. And remember to always have a water hose or pail close by.

In the event of fire or personal injury that requires immediate medical attention, residents are reminded to call 9-1-1.

To report a noise concern relating to fireworks after hours or on days when not permitted, please contact City Dispatch at 519-661-4965.

Following these precautions will help ensure you and your neighbours stay safe and healthy.
