Council approves ward boundary changes

City Council has approved new ward boundaries to address population growth and to ensure fair and effective representation across all fourteen (14) wards in London. These changes, which were passed at the Council meeting on December 17, 2024, will take effect on November 15, 2026, can be viewed on the City of London’s Get Involved website.

London is one of Canada's fastest-growing municipalities across the country with a population increase of over 10% between 2016 and 2021 — an approximate growth of 38,500 residents. With rapid growth expected to continue, a Ward Boundary Review was undertaken in 2024 to redistribute population more equitably and balance representation across all wards.

The review process was conducted by consulting firm Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. and involved public and community partner engagement. This included nine public consultation sessions, interviews with the Mayor, Councillors, and senior City staff, as well as consultations with representatives from Western University, Fanshawe College, and various community groups.
