72-hour closure of Southdale Road West between Colonel Talbot Road and Boler Road

Southdale Road West will be closed to traffic between Colonel Talbot Road and Boler Road from Monday July 31 to Wednesday, August 2, for underground infrastructure work as part of the Southdale Road West and Colonel Talbot Roundabout project. Work includes installation of watermain, storm sewer and manholes beneath the Colonel Talbot Road intersection.

We recognize this is a significant disruption during an already busy construction season. To complete this work as quickly as possible and reopen the road, crews will be working full 24-hour days during the closure.

A detour will be in place for drivers on Westdel Bourne, Deadmans Road, Homewood Lane, and Pack Road. The intersection will remain partially open with turning movements still permitted from Colonel Talbot Road traveling northbound onto eastbound Southdale Road West, and from westbound Southdale Road West traveling southbound onto Colonel Talbot Road.

The Southdale Road West and Colonel Talbot Road intersection was initially planned for a full 10-day closure in November of this year to complete infrastructure work beneath the intersection. Part of this work is being completed earlier than anticipated during the July 31 – August 2 closure, and will shorten the closure period needed in the fall.
