Grants available for Grassroots, Innovation and Capital projects

The City of London invites local not-for-profit organizations and groups to apply for the 2025 Grassroots, Innovation, and Capital, grants through the City of London Community Grants Program. The application deadline is Monday, March 17, 2025, at 12 p.m.

These grants are designed to empower local organizations to expand their programs, services or facilities, and directly benefit Londoners by enhancing access to vital resources and opportunities. Supporting growth of local initiatives is intended to foster stronger communities, improve quality of life, and create lasting positive impact throughout the city.

This year, $250,000 is available for Grassroots, Innovation and Capital projects. Applicants can apply for up to $50,000 per project.

About the Grants

Grassroots grants are for unincorporated grassroots groups or newly incorporated not-for-profit organizations that require support for a new initiative. Grants may be allocated towards a new initiative or early-stage idea that needs additional support to create the capacity and conditions to be effectively sustained.

Innovation grants are provided for new, emerging projects or initiatives that engage in dynamic community partnerships, innovative improvements to service delivery and system collaboration and/or generate new ideas.

Capital grants are provided for projects that involve construction or the purchase of physical assets, including, but not limited to, land, building and associated renovation costs that support increasing program/service space.

All grant applications are assessed based on their alignment with the City of London’s Strategic Plan, a demonstrated need for the project in the community, the cost and effectiveness of the project and the project’s contribution to quality of life in the community.

Organizations that are not registered not-for-profits can still apply by partnering with a host organization for Innovation and Grassroots projects.

These grants empower grassroots initiatives and organizations, which are the heart of what strengthens and transforms our diverse and vibrant community. We’re proud to support these efforts through this important program, helping to create lasting positive change,” says Mayor Josh Morgan.
