Council approves 2023-2027 Strategic Plan for the City of London

Today, City Council approved the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, an important step in defining the priorities that will drive Council and Administration’s work forward over the next four years. The Plan defines and paves the way towards a new vision for the City of London: “London is a sustainable city within a thriving region, committed to culture, innovation and providing a safe, affordable, welcoming and community today and for future generations.”

“The work outlined in our new strategic plan is both ambitious and necessary for our community to become even more vibrant, welcoming, inclusive, safe, and economically dynamic for all Londoners,” said London Mayor Josh Morgan. “This plan is the outcome of many months of work, and the thoughtful insights and input of hundreds of Londoners. I am excited to work together in continuing to build the type of city we all desire.”

In addition to a new vision, the Strategic Plan outlines a new mission and values, as well as eight strategic areas of focus to guide work over the next four years.

Mission:       Improving quality of life and building a strong and vibrant community through bold, proactive, and accountable City services.

Values:

  • Inclusivity and Respect
  • Accountability and Trust

  •  Commitment and Drive
  •  Learning
  •  Financial Stewardship

Strategic Areas of Focus:

As part of the City’s commitment to accountability and transparency in decision-making, work is now set to begin on the development of an implementation plan that will outline the key actions, tactics, timelines, and accountabilities required to implement Council’s Plan.

The pacing and resourcing of the Plan will be determined through the 2024-2027 Multi-Year Budget which began with a target setting discussion last week and will conclude in March 2024 with the budget’s approval.
