City of London cracks down on unauthorized ride-hailing practices

In response to public complaints, Municipal Law Enforcement Officers recently conducted an enforcement blitz, targeting private vehicle-for-hire drivers accepting cash payments for rides not booked through official apps like Uber and Lyft.

As a result of this enforcement, four drivers were charged, each facing a $1,000 fine.

Since 2017, all private rides must be arranged and paid for through the designated apps to ensure safety, accountability, and proper record-keeping.

Passengers are reminded always to book their rides through the official apps to help maintain a safe and regulated ride-hailing system in London.
