1. Policy Statement

1.1 This policy outlines the types of monetary support which could be provided to survivors of employees of The Corporation of the City of London (“City”) who are killed on the job while carrying out their duties.

2. Definitions

OMERS shall mean Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System

3. Applicability

3.1 This policy applies to the survivors of City employees who are killed on the job while carrying out their duties.

4. The Policy

4.1 The survivors of City employees who are killed on the job while carrying out their duties may be eligible to proceeds from insurance policies, OMERS, Canada Pension Plan, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board Benefits, or any other plan as applicable, according to applicable legislation or regulations and collective agreement provisions. 

4.2 Further supplementary financial assistance beyond the above noted will not be granted.
