1. Policy Statement

This policy empowers the Deputy City Manager, Finance Supports or delegate to annually review municipal vehicle utilization and pursue alternative transportation solutions in accordance with this policy.

2. Definitions

3. Applicability

This policy applies to municipal vehicles owned by the City of London.

4. The Policy

That a policy be established to empower the Deputy City Manager, Finance Supports or delegate, through Fleet and Facilities, to ensure fleet vehicles meet the minimum utilization threshold and to actively pursue alternative transportation solutions for underutilized vehicles.

Vehicles traveling less than 5000 kilometers per year will be considered underutilized.   Assets with two consecutive years of underutilization, without exemption, will have the option of divestment, reassignment, right sizing, moving to a car sharing program, replaced with a seasonable vehicle, or using a personal vehicle for periodic City business.

In the case of personal vehicles, mileage costs will be reimbursed at a rate established by the Municipal Council from time to time subject to any alternative agreement defined within collective agreements or employee groups.
