Lane Restrictions: Southdale Road West from west of Bostwick Road to Wonderland Road South

Starting Monday, May 2, the City of London will begin construction of the Southdale Road West and Bostwick Road Improvements project. This work will require temporary lane restrictions on Southdale Road West from west of Bostwick Road to Wonderland Road South, which will be in effect until approximately December 2022.

During this time, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction and lane closure signs will be installed to alert road users of the restrictions. Left turns will not be permitted from Southdale Road West to Pine Valley Boulevard, and the speed limit on Southdale Road West will be reduced to 50 km per hour while crews complete this work.

Drivers will still be able to access Bostwick Community Centre, YMCA, London Public Library, and businesses in the area, which remain open during construction.

Motorists can expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible, and to plan ahead by using navigation tools such as Waze or Google Maps.

Pedestrian connections will be maintained. Cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use nearby streets to reach their destinations on Southdale Road West.

Transit users are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and detours.

Southdale Road West and Bostwick Road Improvements is one of London’s Top Ten projects this year, and aims to support future growth in the area and better accommodate all road users – including cyclists and pedestrians. Southdale Road West and Bostwick Road will be reconstructed to add active transportation connections, install new concrete sidewalks, and complete other above ground improvements, while repairing and replacing aging underground infrastructure. New landscaping, street lights and traffic signals will be added to improve safety, and to beautify the area.
