Londoners are encouraged to enjoy this weekend by exploring the city and experiencing some of the fun, free and engaging activities planned across London.
From free access to museums and heritage sites as part of Doors Open London, to a group bike ride and walking tours as part of Car Free Day special events, this weekend is shaping up to be a great opportunity to explore on foot, by bike, e-scooter or by transit.
London Transit fares will also be free on Sunday in celebration of Car Free Day.

Hope and Action Climate Change Festival – September 21
Hope and Action Climate Change Festival takes place at Fanshawe Conservation Area between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. presented by Upper Thames Conservation Authority and several community partners. City staff will be available to help answer questions about local climate initiatives and how you can help take climate action at home.
Admission to Fanshawe Conservation Area is free on this day, and free shuttle bus rides to and from the festival will be available picking passengers up every hour at both the Western Fair and Argyle Mall.
- The Western Fair shuttle stop location is in the parking lot inside the main entrance to the Western Fair off Rectory Street. The ride will take approximately 28 minutes.
- The Argyle shuttle will pick people up at the LTC bus stop in the Argyle Mall parking lot. The ride will take approximately 13 minutes.

This new festival also marks the launch of the 2024 Green in the City event series promoting climate action and sustainability through several free events planned this fall.
Doors Open London – September 21 and 22
Doors Open London is presented by the London Heritage Council on both September 21 and 22. Please check the Doors Open London program for specific sites, dates and times, and tour locations.
This weekend, you can visit many museums, heritage sites, and organizations free of charge. The theme for this year is Live. Work. Play—in the Forest City.
LBMX Extravabandza on Dundas Place – September 21
LBMX Extravabandza is an exciting showcase of London’s vibrant music scene, local bands, arts, and culture.
Experience free live performances on Dundas Place between Ridout and Talbot Streets hosted by the London Arts Council and sponsored by LBMX on September 21 from 12 noon to 9 p.m.
Car Free Day – September 22
Several activities are planned to celebrate Car Free Day. This annual day is celebrated around the world on September 22. If you can, choose walking, cycling, e-scooter, or London Transit to commute to your destination. By participating, you’ll help reduce traffic congestion, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and take climate action.
Some of the Car Free Day celebrations include:
- Fun programming on Dundas Place between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including music and kids activities. City staff will be here collecting feedback for the development of London’s Mobility Master Plan, providing information about London’s Climate Emergency Action Plan and sharing how Londoners can take climate action together.
- Community-led walking tours and activities on Wortley Road between Elmwood Avenue and Craig Street. City staff will be here to provide advice on getting around London in active and sustainable ways.
- A group bike ride along the Thames Valley Parkway at 1 p.m. led by London Cycle Link.

Free transit fares on September 22
Using the bus with London Transit Commission is free on Sunday, September 22, as fares are sponsored by DANCOR Construction.
This means that Londoners can travel as often and as far as they wish throughout the day as part of Car Free Day. Hop on board!
