23 additional park improvements coming to London neighbourhoods

City Council has launched an additional 23 park improvement projects across London which will help update park amenities and equipment. These projects will further enhance existing work planned this year in alignment with London’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

Funding for these projects is supported by the Neighbourhood Parks Improvement Fund which was created this year as part of the Mayor’s Property Tax Supported Budget (2024-2027). This new fund allocated an additional four million dollars to support park improvements. Council has identified a list of projects that will be supported by the fund and implemented between 2024 and 2027.

“London’s parks are undoubtedly important public spaces in our community for our families and neighbours,” says Mayor Josh Morgan. “I’m thrilled to see the Neighbourhood Parks Improvement Fund reach this milestone, where more than 20 new projects will be constructed to improve London’s parks. These improvements will have a lasting impact and will be enjoyed by many Londoners.”

Some of the improvements include new pickleball courts, enhanced play equipment, and new cricket batting cages.

The list of park improvements was informed by existing City programs such as Neighbourhood Decision Making, previous park engagement activities, and ongoing resident feedback and requests the City receives. This information informed a list of 23 more park projects that could be completed in the coming years with the new Neighbourhood Parks Improvement Fund.

A new webpage on the City’s Get Involved website has been created to help keep Londoners updated as these projects progress. Updates about the projects and program will continue to be posted to getinvolved.london.ca/NeighbourhoodParksImprovements.

These new projects are in addition to the many improvements already planned or underway by the City. Londoners can learn more about current park construction projects at london.ca/ParkConstruction.
