Temporary closure of the King Street and Hewitt / Glebe Street intersection

Starting today, Wednesday, August 2, the intersection of King Street and Hewitt / Glebe Street in Old East Village will be temporarily closed as part of the East London Link Phase 2 project, until approximately Friday, August 11.

During this time, the King Street and Rectory Street intersection will be open to support north and south access to residential and commercial areas in Old East Village. Once work at the King Street and Hewitt and Glebe streets intersection is complete (tentatively planned for August 11, 2023), the King Street and Rectory Street intersection will be closed again, and traffic will be detoured back to Hewitt and Glebe streets for north and south access.

Drivers are asked to continue to exercise caution when accessing local destinations as construction crews are working in close proximity.

Detour signs will be in place to help guide drivers around the area. People driving are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout this work on at least one side of the road. People walking are advised to follow wayfinding signs to navigate the construction area safely.

All businesses remain open and accessible during construction.
