Planning your trip for a busy weekend downtown

This weekend promises to be bustling with exciting events in the downtown core, including Pride London Festival 2024 and Rides on Richmond Car Show, to name a few. The City of London is sharing some tips to help Londoners and visitors navigate in and around the downtown core this weekend.

London Transit

Those relying on transit during this time are advised to plan ahead by visiting the London Transit website. If you’re headed downtown, north and south routes on Richmond St. are affected but will continue to service stops on Richmond St. south of Dufferin Ave. and at Oxford St.

With Pride London Parade and Rides on Richmond event happening on Sunday, July 21, Routes 1, 4, 6, 13, 15, 16, 20 & 90 will be on detour. Full detour information is available online on the Pride Parade and Rides on Richmond – London Transit Commission webpage. Transit users can plan ahead and track their bus in real-time here at realtime.londontransit.ca.

Road closures and construction

  • Beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, Richmond St. from Central Ave. to Piccadilly St. will be closed for Rides on Richmond event.
  • Beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, there will be a rolling road closure for the Pride London Parade, which will go from Quebec St. and Queens Ave. then parade down Queens Ave. to Colborne St., Colborne St. to Dufferin Ave., Dufferin Ave. to Clarence St. until approximately 2 p.m.

As a reminder, some major routes into the Core Area may be impacted by construction, such as York Street and Wellington Street

People driving are encouraged to use navigation apps such as Waze and Google Maps to find alternative routes to reach events and other destinations. People can also visit london.ca/roadwork for an interactive map of the road impacts and closures.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to stay alert and obey all construction signs to ensure your safety and the safety of our crews.

All businesses remain open and accessible during construction.

Free one-hour parking

Enjoy free one-hour on-street parking in the Core Area, as well as Municipal Lots #1 and #2 in Old East Village. Residents and visitors wishing to take advantage of this opportunity will need to use the HonkMobile app from their phone, tablet or computer. Check to make sure the HONK promo code sticker is shown on the on-street or master meter and then enter the code CORE under "Add Promo" at time of checkout.
