City services during the 2021 holiday closure

A number of our offices, programs and services are closed from noon on December 24, 2021 and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on January 4, 2022.

Arenas & outdoor skating rinks

Arenas open: December 26 at 4 p.m. Regular programs 27, 28, 29 & 30 

Victoria Park ice rink Open (weather permitting) daily  from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The rink is closed for ice resurfacing from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. Call 519-661-4529 to check the rink conditions. 

Covent Garden Market Rotary rink Open (weather permitting) Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Storybook Gardens Open for extended skating hours weather permitting. Please check the Storybook Gardens website for updates to hours and/or skating conditions.

Aquatics

Canada Games Aquatic Centre, South London and East Lions Community pools are open on December 28, 29 & 30.

By-law, property standards and noise complaints

By-law and property standards

Noise Complaints

Call 519-930-3517. The noise complaint line is responded to on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.

Child care fee subsidy

The Child Care Fee Subsidy office at Citi Plaza will be open:

December 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

December 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon

Online applications for child care fee subsidy can be accessed anytime.  

Community centres, seniors' centres & satellites

Select community centres, seniors' community centres and seniors' satellites will be open for pre-registered recreation programs. For a list of those programs and locations, visit our programs, courses and registration page. 

Dearness Home administration offices

Open regular hours on December 29, 30. December 31 open until noon.

Existing online submissions will remain available by emailing developmentservices@london.ca or visit the planning and development applications page or you can deposit applications in the City Hall mail slot (west side of City Hall front entrance) or mail to Development Services, City of London, 300 Dufferin Ave., PO Box 5035, London, ON  N6A 4L9

Fire services

If you are experiencing an emergency, call 9-1-1. Fire services will be responding to all emergency calls.

If your call is not an emergency, please call 519-661-5615. 

Administrative offices will be open December 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and December 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Forestry 

Report emergencies related to the tree protection by-law or issues such as storm damage related to individual City owned trees to dispatch@london.ca or call 519-661-CITY(2489) x 4965.

Submit tree protection by-law enforcement, tree cutting issues or complaints  to treeprotection@london.ca or leave a message at 519-661-CITY(2489) x 4457.  

Submit concerns or work orders about trees located on public property (boulevard, parks, woodlands) to Forestry Dispatch at trees@london.ca or call 519-661-CITY(2489) x 5783.

Submit private tree issues and complaints related to the property standards by-law to enforcement@london.ca or call 519-661-CITY(2489) x 4660.

Garbage & recycling 

Holiday pickup days are published in the Waste Reduction & Conservation Calendar Report a collection problem on the Service London Portal or email service@london.ca.

Housing Stability Services including the Housing Access Centre (HAC)

If you are experiencing homelessness and need to connect with the Housing Stability Services Coordinated Access team during regular business hours, please call 519-661-HOME(4663) or toll free 1-833-932-2297 x 4. You can also send an email to homelessprevention@london.ca.

Our offices will be open to answer your calls on December 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on  December 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Licences & permits

Burial permits - Obtainable through London Police Service, 601 Dundas Street (at Adelaide Street).

Dog and cat licences - To obtain a dog licence or cat tag  over the holiday closure, visit the London Animal Care Centre at 121 Pine Valley Boulevard, 519-685-1330 (Closed December 25, 26 and 31) or online at https://www.accpets.ca

Residential rental licences, business & vehicle for hire licensing - Application information is available online and can be emailed to licensing@london.ca Business licences expire annually January 31. 

Life Stabilization
Ontario Works

Ontario Works offices are open on December 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on December 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. 

Online applications for Ontario Works can be accessed at any time at https://saapply.mcss.gov.on.ca.

Case status and cheque information for ongoing Ontario Works clients Ontario Works clients can access information about their case by calling the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System at 1-800-808-2268. The IVR system is available 24/7. 

Discretionary Benefits

Offices are open on December 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on December 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. 

Parking inquiries, payments, enforcement & overnight parking

Parking Enforcement  Please contact 519-661-4965 or email dispatch@london.ca to request parking enforcement during the holiday closure.

Overnight Parking Overnight parking passes to allow on-street parking may not be available subject to weather.  Please check the overnight parking pass page to determine if a pass can be obtained prior to parking on the street.

Payment  Payments can be made online or placed in the drop box at the front of the building at 824 Dundas Street.  

Permits & inspections

Permits 

New home erect, simple plumbing, additions or alteration building permit applications for single detached homes can be submitted online.  

Industrial, Commercial and Institutional building permit applications can be emailed to building@london.ca.

Sign permit applications can be submitted online.

Swimming pool fence permit applications can be emailed to zoning@london.ca.

Work approval permits and large load permit applications can be emailed to streetpermit@london.ca.

Please note:  As per s.10 of the DC by-law, applications submitted during the holiday closure will be deemed as submitted in January 2022 and the 2022 DC rates will be applied.

Building inspections 

Emergency only, based on staff availability.  Phone 519-661-4965 to reach after-hours dispatch. 

Property taxes

Payments by cheque in sealed envelopes can be dropped into the City Hall mail slot, 300 Dufferin Avenue, on the southwest corner of the building or mailed to Property Tax Section, City of London, PO Box 5256, London, ON   N6A 5M6

Recreation customer service

Registration for programs can be completed online at any time.

Customer Service will be available via e-mail, phone and in-person at Citi Plaza location on December 29 and 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on December 31 from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

Report a problem or service emergency

Report a problem online or e-mail non-urgent concerns to service@london.ca.

In the case of a service disruption or emergency (water, sewer, flooding) please call our after-hours dispatch at 519-661-4965.

Hydro concerns should be addressed to London Hydro.
