Upcoming lane restrictions on King Street between Talbot Street and Richmond Street

Beginning Monday, April 12, King Street will be limited to one lane of east-bound traffic between Talbot Street and Richmond Street as work begins on this portion of the Downtown Loop Phase 1 construction project. To the east, King Street remains closed to all traffic between Richmond Street and Clarence Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained for residents and visitors to access businesses in the area, and eastbound cyclists on King Street will be redirected to Dundas Place ahead of the construction area, via Talbot Street.

Drivers can continue to access nearby parking lotsincluding the parking garage below Covent Garden Market, well as streets north and south of the construction zone. Additional “park & pick-up” locations have also been recently added downtown for customers and deliveries.

The Downtown Loop, Phase 1 (King Street) is the first of London’s new rapid transit construction projects.

The areas of King Street undergoing construction will shift as work progresses this year, with one lane of traffic being maintained between Ridout Street and Richmond Street. Work on the stages located east of Richmond Street to Wellington Street will require full closures.
