Starting on Wednesday, August 9, periodic lane restrictions will be in place at Thames River Bridge at Wharncliffe Road North and South to allow for necessary advance work in preparation for the Wharncliffe Road South Improvements project, which is tentatively planned for construction in 2024. These periodic road restrictions are anticipated to be in place until approximately Friday, August 11, weather permitting.
During this time, signs will be installed to help guide traffic through the area. Drivers are advised to expect delays and are encouraged to use navigational apps such as Waze and Google Maps to find alternative routes to reach their destinations.
Temporary sidewalk closures and restrictions will also be required and pedestrians are encouraged to use sidewalk on the other side of the road to avoid these restrictions.
Some LTC routes may be impacted during construction and transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website for service updates and the most up-to-date information.

About the Wharncliffe Road South Improvements project
The City of London is planning to reconstruct Wharncliffe Road South, from north of the Thames River to Springbank Drive to provide safer, more efficient travel for all road users.
The project will replace the aging CN Bridge, improve the Wharncliffe Road South and Horton Street intersection, and rehabilitate the Wharncliffe Road Bridge across the Thames River.
The new street design will enhance the pedestrian environment, improve safety, reduce traffic back-ups, and improve access to transit.
