Municipal Elections ramp up as deadline to file approaches

Londoners considering running in this year’s Municipal Election have until Friday, August 19 at 2 p.m. to file their nomination. To file, candidates who want to run for Mayor or Ward Councillor are required to submit the nomination form, along with the signatures of 25 voters who endorse the nomination and a declaration of qualifications, in person at City Hall in the Election Office on the 2nd floor.

Staffing the election:

Poll workers are needed to work at polling stations on Voting Day, October 24. London’s Elections Office team will be hosting Job Fairs for interested applicants at the following locations on August 24 from 5 to 8 p.m:

  • East Lions Community Centre
  • Startech.com (Bostwick) Community Centre
  • South London Community Centre
  • Medway Community Centre

Applicants should come prepared for a brief on-the-spot interview. Applications will also be accepted online at london.ca/work-the-election.

We are hiring for the following positions:

  • Deputy Returning Officers
  • Registration Officers
  • Tabulator Operators

To work the election, applicants must be 18 years of age or older; legally entitled to work in Canada; and cannot be a candidate, campaigning for a candidate or have provided an endorsement signature to a candidate running in the election.

Successful applicants must also attend a mandatory in-person training session at City Hall.
