Making the most of the upcoming long weekend

Labour Day on Monday marks the unofficial end of summer, leaving Londoners with one last long weekend to enjoy before the start of fall schedules. The City has compiled a list of activities for you and your loved ones to take part in across the city.

Tee off at a City golf course

Thames Valley Golf Course and Fanshawe Golf Course remain open throughout the long weekend. Thames Valley Golf Course is situated along the Thames River just 10 minutes from downtown London. Fanshawe Golf Course is located in the northeast area of London overlooking Fanshawe Lake. Book a tee time online.

Make a splash at your local spray pad

Beat the heat and bring the little ones down to your local spray pad this long weekend! While the City’s outdoor pools will close for the season as of Friday, September 2, spray pads are open

With hot weather in the forecast for the next couple of weeks, we'll be keeping spray pads at Medway Park, Riverbend Park, Ivey Park, Gibbons Park, Southeast Optimist Park, Ed Blake Park, Meadowgate Park, Oakridge Park & Constitution Park open until September 25

Visit an Environmentally Significant Area

Environmentally Significant Areas (ESAs) are spaces within London’s natural heritage system that require special protection to preserve their environmentally significant qualities. In London, 21 natural areas are designated ESAs.

These areas include wetlands, forests, meadows, valley lands, and significant wildlife habitat. Bring the whole family out and experience London’s wilderness. Visit our website for a list of ESAs near you.

Know before you go

Some road restrictions continue to be in place for London’s busiest construction season – from active transportation improvements to underground work and new bus lanes – construction is underway across the city.

Londoners are encouraged to plan their route ahead and visit the Renew London website to see if their commute will be impacted.

The best routes to reach core area destinations include Richmond Street, Talbot Street, Wharncliffe Road, Colborne Street, York Street, Dufferin Avenue, Oxford Street, and Riverside Drive.

Some LTC routes and stops have been impacted during construction. Transit riders are advised to visit the LTC website for real-time updates and detour information.

Detours continue to be in place at the Thames Valley Parkway between Huron Street and Gibbons Park, and from Ann Street to Grosvenor Street during nearby sewer construction.
